Cytec’s sustainability strategy is focused on
developing innovative and environmentally sustainable products that
compete in a global economy; achieving the highest standards of
safety,
health and environmental stewardship and
operational excellence; and
being responsible to our stakeholders. We continue to look at our
business-specific market drivers and best practices to drive our
sustainability program evolution in 2012 and maximize opportunities to
extend our efforts throughout the value chain.
Our Strategic Approach
Cytec developed a robust sustainability strategy. In a comprehensive
effort, we benchmarked leading practices, gathered input from our
customers and analyzed our supply chain. The resulting strategy, and new
Sustainability Vision and Mission, are guiding our commitment to
embracing sustainability as an operating principle and implementing
sustainable practices across our business.
Sustainability Governance
Cytec’s Sustainability Council comprises cross-functional professionals
and provides oversight to our Sustainability efforts, along with the
Safety, Health & Environment Committee of our Board of Directors. During
2012, we launched a Sustainability Center of Competency (CoC), with
responsibility for executing Cytec’s sustainability strategy on a
project-by-project basis to provide value and drive growth at Cytec.
Cytec also has a Community of Practice, a Cytec-wide forum for
exchanging experience and best practices related to Sustainability.
Cytec’s Practical Sustainability Model
At Cytec, we embrace our responsibility for driving sustainability
throughout the value chain – from raw material extraction to customer
use and disposal of our products. At each step, we seek opportunities to
reduce our environmental footprint, while focusing on value creation.
Cytec is committed to adding value for our customers, so our
sustainability efforts focus not only on improving the sustainability of
our own products and processes, but extending technology to our
customers that will improve the sustainability of their operations.
