In 2012, we shifted our sustainability reporting to the web to offer effective and efficient content for our stakeholders. Historically, a standalone report communicated our achievements. To archive our achievements, performance and opportunities for 2011, Cytec is pleased to offer our 2011 Sustainability Highlights.

Cytec continues to support the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) efforts to standardize non-financial reporting efforts. We will continue to track achievements to align to GRI with a goal to fulfill “Level C” requirements.

Performance goals and metrics

We are pleased with our accomplishments in 2011, and will address all opportunities to further our achievements in Sustainability. Our objective for 2012 is to continue improving against our 2011 performance. Previously, we reported our results annually. With the new format, we will provide interim updates on our progress through 2012.

Sustainability goals

Cytec has established Sustainability goals and metrics, which run through 2012. These goals are reported publicly and include greenhouse gas (GHG), energy and waste. In addition, Cytec reports annual water and air emissions for our United States (US) manufacturing sites to the American Chemistry Council.

Cytec is currently establishing a new set of mid- and long-term goals for Sustainability. We are evaluating: energy and GHG, waste, water, air emissions and products in terms of manufacturing impact and customer benefits, and community outreach. We will continue to report progress on establishing our new benchmarks.

A core part of Cytec’s Sustainability strategy is a focus on three areas:

• Innovative and Sustainable Products – As a chemical company, Cytec has a special responsibility to produce products and services that are safe, environmentally sound, and increasingly less toxic and more energy-efficient.
  
• Safety, Health and Environmental Stewardship & Operational Excellence – Driving safety, health and environmental excellence in our operations has long been a core value of Cytec and is our first priority. We continually take action to reduce our environmental footprint. Our continuous improvement culture naturally aligns with our sustainability efforts, with energy and waste reduction, operational efficiencies and employee engagement activities which provide value to Cytec.
  
• Responsibility to our Stakeholders – Cytec has a long history of focusing on the safety and health of our workforce and, through our membership in Responsible Care^®, our communities. We understand our responsibility to our key stakeholders, including our employees, customers, shareholders and communities.
