Cytec announces plan to expand
Phosphine Chemicals
 

Almost 40 years in the solvent extraction (SX) business has translated into extensive experience in solving difficult problems and in introducing many patented formulations.

Cytec offers two extraction product families: Hydroxyoxime extractants under the trademark ACORGA® extraction reagents and organophosphorus derivatives under the trademark CYANEX® solvent extraction reagents.

NEW Offerings:

  • ACORGA® NR series and ACORGA OR expand Cytec's robust line of solvent extraction products for copper solvent extraction. They help mining companies by protecting against degradation of their solvent extractant; particularly, degradation that is caused by exposure to high nitration or oxidative conditions. This is a significant challenge for mining companies, many of which have more than $1million invested in extractants that their process uses over and over again. The Cytec products result in substantial cost savings by reducing extractant replacement costs and improving the operational reliability of a processing facility.
     
  • CYANEX® 600 allows mining companies to extract valuable Molybdenum from their Cu solvent extraction process. Molybdenum also exists at varying levels in most ore processed for copper extraction. By extracting this metal during their copper solvent extraction process, mining companies can gain an additional revenue stream from their existing operations. Molybdenum is in high demand for use in alloys that are used in applications that require high-strength, high pressure, high temperature or high corrosion resistance. Cytec's CYANEX 600 allows selective extraction, purification and concentration of molybdenum from low concentration acidic streams.
     
  • Ni/Co modeling. Cytec has developed a new modeling technique for the separation of cobalt from nickel via solvent extraction. This new software technology allows Cytec to very quickly evaluate via simulation many potential operational scenarios and thus can optimize the design of a future operation or improve the efficiency of an existing operation. These significant improvements will allows Co/Ni SX operations to have higher profitability and improves the efficiency of Co/Ni SX separation technology.
     
  • ACORGA®  OPT solvent extraction reagents are proprietary formulations specifically designed to increase Cu transfer as compared to unmodified aldoxime:ketoxime systems. ACORGA OPT reagents provide higher metal transfer in the strip stage by improving the performance of the available oximes under typical strip conditions, without negatively affecting the extract stage. Overall metal transfer efficiencies can be expected to improve significantly with use of these products.
