This presentation reviews a solvent extraction (SX) process and a new reagent formulation for the recovery of molybdenum (Mo) from acidic leach liquors. The results of a piloting are shown where Mo was recovered from a real copper SX raffinate solution (containing ppm-levels of Mo), purified, and concentrated prior to production of a Mo salt product.

This presentation reviews Cytec’s new MINCHEM® modeling software capabilities for the design and optimization of solvent extraction processes using CYANEX® 272. Predicted model output is compared to laboratory piloting results showing good agreement for both extract and scrub stages. Cytec’s prediction capabilities will be used with current customers to improve circuit performance as well as allow more efficient design for new operations.
