Primary and secondary alkylphosphines can be
readily converted to phosphonic and phosphinic acids or to thio
analogues thereof. These products are marketed under the brand
names of CYANEX® or CYPHOS® (see
Table). These products have
traditionally been used in the metal and mineral processing
industries, but can also be used for metal surface
modification or for passivating the surfaces of nano-particles
as described under “Functional
Applications of Alkylphosphine Derivatives”.
