Cytec is a major manufacturer and global supplier of PTZ® Phenothiazine, an aromatic amine based product that exhibits broad activity as an inhibitor, antioxidant and short-stopping agent in a variety of applications.
It is the primary stabilizer used in the production and storage of acrylic acid, acrylic ester and methacrylate monomers. The product inhibits the polymerization of these monomers during not only their manufacture but also protects them during storage and shipment. It is used as a short-stopping agent for monomer storage tanks. It is thermally stable and acid resistant.
It is also used as a stabilizer for chloroprene monomer and neoprene polymer, and as an antioxidant for polyether, polyols, unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester resins, synthetic lubricants and oils.
The product is extremely active and functions at very low concentration. It also has synergistic effects with other stabilizers. The product will function in strongly acidic conditions and is one of the few stabilizers that will perform in either air or nitrogen environments.
PTZ is also used as a raw material in the manufacture of certain pharmaceuticals.
PTZ is a solid product which is supplied in both a prill and powder grade.
