Cytec to Share MAX HTŪ Sodalite Scale Inhibitor Green Chemistry at US EPA Conference
Woodland Park, NJ – December 5, 2012 – Cytec Industries Inc. (NYSE: CYT) will participate in the Toxicology and Sustainable Molecular Design Conference at the University of Connecticut on December 11, 2012. Cytec was invited to share its MAX HTŪ sodalite scale inhibitor technology with chemists and toxicologists from a variety of companies and universities.
Cytec’s MAX HTŪ sodalite scale inhibitor was recently awarded the EPA Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award. MAX HTŪ scale control technology enables greener reaction conditions within a chemical process. The technology was invented for use in the Bayer process of converting bauxite ore to alumina. MAX HTŪ contributes to the reduction of pollution while reducing energy use and waste generation.
The purpose of the conference is to promote synergies between toxicology and green chemistry in academia, research and industry. “The major outcome of this effort is focused at providing knowledge and tools from toxicology to chemists for use in designing new chemical molecules that have a reduced environmental impact.” stated Dr. Randy Deskin, Cytec’s global head of Sustainability.
