Cytec Launches a
New Solution for UV Cured Field Applied Floor Coatings
Brussels – November 15th, 2010 - Cytec Industries Inc.
(NYSE:CYT) continues to widen its product range for UV curable
field applied coatings and introduces an innovative resin for
VCT (vinyl composition tile) and concrete floors.
Cytec’s new EBECRYL® 893 resin, a polyester acrylate,
has especially been developed for use in field applied topcoats
for flooring. Floor coatings based on EBECRYL 893 provide a good
balance of properties such as cure speed, adhesion, hardness and
scratch resistance. Good chemical and solvent resistance and
high gloss are also obtained. EBECRYL 893 is low in viscosity,
therefore giving latitude in formulating. It also provides
resistance to yellowing upon cure and over its lifetime.
‘UV curable coatings can address many issues associated with
conventional floor coatings,’ says

Resins and Additives. ‘The properties of UV curable floor
coatings are fully developed immediately after curing, providing
fast return to service. Excellent stain resistance and long
durability result in low maintenance coatings with reduced
aggregate costs,’ he adds.
