MAX HT™ 550 Emphasizes Prevention Over Correction

Shanghai, China, November 1st 2010 - A correction often translates into extra costs, wasted energy and time, none of which businesses can afford. Cytec Industries Inc., (NYSE:CYT) has developed a solution to tackle scale through a prevention approach with MAX HT™ 550 sodalite scale inhibitor (second generation) that eliminates Bayer scale accumulation in liquor heat exchangers and inter-stage piping. Thus, it increases energy efficiencies, and improves operation and cost savings.

During the Symposium of ICSOBA (International Committee for Study of Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium) on 25-27 November 2010 at Zhengzhou, China, Dr. Qi Dai, China Business Development Manager, will present a paper, “The Inhibition of Vishnevite Scale in Chinese Refineries Using MAX HT™ 550” which demonstrates the performance of this scale inhibitor and its benefits.

In addition, Dr. Qi Dai’s second paper, “New Flocculants for Improved Processing of High Silica Bauxite,” highlights a new family of polymers with improvements in flocculation of mud, settling rate and overflow clarity.
