Cytec Presents Advances in Composite Technology at International Conference “Supply on the Wings”

October 27, 2011 – Woodland Park, NJ – Cytec Industries Inc. (NYSE:CYT) today announced Chris Pederson, Vice President Aerospace, Engineered Materials will be a keynote speaker at the 6th International Conference “Supply on the Wings.” The conference is being held November 2, 3 and 4 at Exhibition Centre, Frankfurt / Main, Germany in conjunction with AIRTEC International Aerospace Supply Fair.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Aerospace – The Global Innovation Driver.” Pederson’s talk entitled “Advances in Composites Technology” will detail the rise of composite use in aerospace from early military aircraft with less than 10% composite content to next generation commercial designs that are greater than 50% composite. The talk will include discussion of key technologies needed to further advance composite adoption with focus on both material and processing innovations.

“With the step change in composites usage on next generation commercial aircraft, application complexity and manufacturing risk increase,” said Carmelo Lo Faro, Vice President Technology, Engineered Materials. “Composite components are more likely to be on the manufacturing critical path and have greater impact on production cost, quality and schedule. In this environment it is critical to integrate all aspects of the composites value chain.”
