Cytec Presents Mining Chemicals
at “Flotation 2009” Conference
Brussels, Belgium, October 27, 2009 - Cytec Industries Inc.
(NYSE:CYT) will host a technical presentation at the Flotation
2009 Conference, taking place from November 9th to 12th in Cape
Town/South Africa.
The presentation from Abdul Gorken, Regional Chief Metallurgist,
will cover the topic “Optimization and conversion of flotation
reagents towards sustainable chemicals solutions”.
“The mining industry is facing the challenge of optimizing its
processes at a time when natural resources such as water and
energy have limited availability and the ore bodies are getting
more complex. In this scenario, new technologies need to be
developed to enable truly sustainable solutions which consider
their social, environmental and economical aspects”, says Abdul
Gorken.
“To achieve this goal, mineral processing, especially the
flotation processes, is beginning to focus on new mechanical,
operational and chemical developments. Typically the mechanical
and operational developments are limited by physical constraints
and subject to significant capital investments. However, by
optimizing the chemical components, greater benefits can be
achieved with very little or no investment”, he adds.
Cytec has developed new chemistries such as MAXGOLDTM promoter
through the FLOTATION MATRIX 100TM process. This new reagent can
replace aged chemistries like xanthates while delivering better
metallurgical performance in the flotation of precious and base
metals with a more environmental friendly profile. An overview
will be given using examples to highlight the industrial scale
application of the FLOTATION MATRIX 100TM process and the new
reagents.
