Cytec Granted Chinese Patent for PTZ Phenothiazine Prill
West Paterson, NJ, September 5, 2007 -- Cytec Industries Inc.
(NYSE: CYT) announced today the allowance of its patent covering
PTZ® phenothiazine prill by the Chinese Patent & Trademark
Office. The patent should grant shortly. “Prill” is the
spherical bead form of phenothiazine.
Cytec is a leading producer of phenothiazine, which is an
acrylic stabilizer, used in the production of acrylic acids,
acrylic esters, and methyl methacrylate monomer. End use
applications include super absorbent polymers, coatings, inks
and packaging, in addition to acrylic sheets. Prill is the
product form preferred by most manufacturers because it creates
less dust and is easier to handle than powder and flake forms.
Cytec has manufactured PTZ prill since December, 2000 at its
facility in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
China joins seven other countries in recognizing Cytec’s
intellectual property related to PTZ phenothiazine prill. Patent
applications are pending in all other countries where acrylic
acids, esters, or methyl methacylate are produced. Contact Cytec
