Cytec Begins Expansion of PTZ® Phenothiazine Plant in Mt. Pleasant, TN

Woodland Park, NJ – August 3, 2011 – Cytec Industries Inc. (NYSE: CYT) announced today that it will start work on the first phase of a major capacity expansion of its PTZ phenothiazine plant in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. This expansion will enable Cytec to continue to supply phenothiazine product to meet our customers growing demands. The first phase of the expansion will begin in the third quarter of 2011 and will increase capacity by 20%. The second phase will be completed in 2013.

Cytec supplies phenothiazine as an inhibitor to the global acrylic acid, ester and monomer markets, in the form of a prill (small bead) for which Cytec holds patents in all major producing countries. This form is preferred by the market because of its safety, health and environment advantages due to low dust content which reduces explosion risk and worker exposure.
