Cytec Expands High Performance
UV Pressure Sensitive Adhesives Portfolio Worldwide
Tempe, Arizona, July 28, 2010 –Cytec Industries Inc. (NYSE:
CYT), recently held a comprehensive seminar and demonstration of
its UV-curable Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSA) to introduce
the product portfolio to Asia-Pacific tape manufacturers. Over
130 customers from the region attended the event that was held
on June 30th in Shanghai, China. The event included
technical and industry presentations about UV-cure technology,
talks by industry experts and a live coating demonstration
giving attendees a rare opportunity to learn about the entire UV
PSA manufacturing process.
Cytec’s UV PSA products deliver one of the most important
technology improvements available to high performance tape
coaters in a long time — a 100% solid product with
solvent-based-plus performance and the coating and manufacturing
economies of a hot melt coating line (i.e., fast speed, thick
deposition in one pass and lower cost-in-use). Targeted
applications include high performance industrial tapes,
automotive instrument panel and membrane switch assemblies,
nameplates and foam tapes. Cytec’s UV PSA product portfolio
includes GELVA® GMR 8103-01 and GELVA® GMR
8020-02 and is a key component of the Cytec Engineered
Materials’ High Performance Industrial Materials portfolio.
Cytec is now introducing the newest member of the UV PSA product
portfolio, GMR 8103-01, to the US and European markets. This new
product provides exceptional adhesion to both low- and
high-energy surfaces and delivers excellent sheer performance
and die-cut-ability. GMR 8103-01 will enable US and European
tape manufacturers to enter and be competitive in the
low-surface-energy (LSE) tape markets surpassing typical
tackified solvent-based PSA products.
GMR 8103-01 is specially formulated to bond with LSE substrates.
Its performance and cost make it a superior choice for emerging
and non-traditional LSE applications. GMR 8103-01 coats well on
standard hot-melt coating equipment for both wide web and narrow
web applications. With this addition to the GMR product
portfolio, any application requiring bonding from a
low-surface-energy material to a high-surface-energy substrate
can be achieved without sacrificing performance.
