Cytec’s Safety
First Culture Advances Innovation of XR Series Collectors
Flotation Reagents
- AERO™ MX5160 reagent enables 8% increase in copper
recovery & 11% increase in gold recovery.
Perth, Western Australia, July 13th 2011 - Investing and
developing novel and safe solutions for process improvement and
enhancing metallurgical benefits for the mining industry, Cytec
Industries Inc., (NYSE:CYT) will introduce its XR Series of
unique flotation reagents at Metplant 2011 on 8th and 9th August
2011 at Pan Pacific Perth.
Cytec’s XR Series Collectors are flotation reagents that
function as partial or full xanthate replacements. Its liquid
form overcomes long-term stability issues posed by the pellet
and powdered forms of xanthate collectors, which are also
combustible, self-igniting and toxic during its entire life
cycle.
“The safety issues around xanthate collector usage spurred us to
advance our XR Series of reagents towards a safer and more
effective replacement that vastly improves handling, reduces
exposure of the personnel to the product and simplifies plant
operations,” said Dr. Amy Essenfeld, Chief Product Steward.
Mr Gerald Sullivan, Global Marketing Manager, Mineral Processing
said, “The currently available formulations are AERO™ 3473
reagent, AERO™ 3739 reagent and AERO™ MX5160 reagent with
additional products lined up for release in the coming months.
When a recent customer switched to AERO™ MX5160 reagent, he
achieved 8% increase in copper recovery and 11% increase in gold
recovery with no change in collector usage!”
Cytec’s mineral processing experts will be stationed at Booth
No. 14 at Metplant 2011 to introduce their new reagent
technologies for improving flotation and other mineral
processing separations.
