Cytec Joins Flexible Display
Center at Arizona State University
WOODLAND PARK, N.J. – July 9, 2009 – Cytec Industries Inc.
(NYSE:CYT), a specialty chemicals and materials company,
announced today its membership to the Flexible Display Center
(FDC) at Arizona State University. The Flexible Display Center
is a collaboration among government, industry and academia
designed to advance the development of full-color flexible
display technology. Cytec joined the FDC to provide innovative
solutions to the unmet material needs of the current flexible
display market, and in turn to partner with some of the leading
institutions and companies in this fast emerging market space.
“The FDC is a unique partner performing a critical role in the
development of flexible display technology, and we are confident
in the substantial benefits this relationship will provide both
parties, as well as the industry as a whole,” said Martin Court,
Cytec Vice President of Research and Development. “By leveraging
our expertise in coatings, inks and adhesives, I believe Cytec
will be able to bring advanced material solutions to the FDC and
its members. Our membership is another example of Cytec’s
objective to strengthen and grow our position as a supplier to
the displays industry.”
Formed through a 10-year cooperative agreement between the U.S.
Army and ASU, the FDC is partnering with many of the world’s
leading providers of advanced display technology, materials and
process equipment to meet its development objectives.
“Cytec brings a high-value area of expertise to the FDC, as
materials solutions are an increasingly vital enabler in the
development of flexible and printed electronics technology,”
said Shawn O’Rourke, FDC Director of Engineering. “As we
continue to explore the solutions to address the evolving
technological requirements of flexible active matrix backplanes,
Cytec’s experience with UV curable and other coatings,
adhesives, and specialty chemicals will provide marked
technology improvements to current flexible display
constraints.”
