Cytec’s ADDITOLŽ LED 01 Resin
Opens New Application Areas for Low Energy Curing
Brussels, June 1st, 2011 - Cytec Industries Inc. (NYSE:CYT)
opens new application areas for energy curable technologies with
ADDITOLŽ LED 01. When used as a co-resin, ADDITOLŽ LED 01
transforms UV curable formulations into lower energy, UV LED
curable formulations.
Traditional UV curable coatings and inks cannot be
instantaneously and completely cured with current available UV
LEDs, given the low energy output of the latter. Sometimes
acceptable drying speeds can be achieved by changing and
increasing the photo-initiator package and acrylate
functionality, however these formulations still require a short
distance of a few millimeters between the UV LED unit and the
substrate.
“Cytec’s ADDITOLŽ LED 01 allows for more formulation freedom and
opens the way to assessing UV LED curing for application areas
which were usually not accessible to UV technology, e.g.
coatings on heat sensitive surfaces or field applied
architectural coatings ”, says Stefan Smeets, Global Marketing
Manager . “ADDITOLŽ LED 01 is designed to improve the surface
cure, leading to faster line speeds and allowing for a bigger
distance between curing unit and substrate, necessary to cure
three dimensional coated surfaces”, he adds.
